Native to South Africa, Calla Lilies (Zantedeschia) have become popular to give colour in the garden or as an indoor plant. Ideal in pots for the patio or something a little different in the garden border. They will die down in the winter and if you wish to keep them, up lift the bulbs and store like a Dahlia as a dry bulb in the shed or green house. (We have been trialling them outdoors and left them in garden borders over winter with a few inches of mulch and as the winters have been fairly mild they are shooting back up again from May onwards.)
Zantedeschia are well suited for moist soils and around wet pond margins. In sun or partial shade. They also make excellent cut flowers and have a long vase life upto two weeks. Plants on offer are grown in 2 ltr pot size and will flower late May to June/July.
